2014
Bryony (architect-in-training) and George (drummer) meet at a music festival in Bilbao.
2015
Self-taught, George forges a path in film.
2016
A taste for adventure leads Bryony from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to Australia. She works on parks, placemaking and public transport projects.
2017
George follows, leaving Manchester.
2018
Sydney’s creative community is a welcome home. The pair make their first project together about a cement-making town in rural New South Wales.
2019
Tears, goodbyes and a new chapter in the UK. Time to convert a 25-year old Japanese campervan and launch Broaden.
2020
Bryony and George set off in their 4m2 home-on- wheels. They craft culture and brand films, and launch their debut documentary. As the pandemic halts travel, Broaden embraces solar-powered editing and low-impact living in València, Spain.
2021
Broaden relocates to Manchester, UK. Old friends, new collaborators and good times.
2022
Bimini Bon Boulash graces the screen in a centenary campaign with the National Union of Students. Jack, Georgiana, Matt and others join the crew.
2023
Broaden are invited to Texas to represent the North West’s creative sector at SXSW.
2024
A 40ft shipping container enters the scene and Bryony’s dad Bruford comes on board. Digging, welding, cutting and sweating on the studio build continues alongside projects far and wide. Broaden’s film against high- carbon advertising premieres in British parliament.
2025
The Broaden Studio opens for business in Manchester.
2026
Three documentaries progress: ‘Reebok and Walsh’ is seen by 50,000 visitors, ‘More than Music’ premieres and ‘Djakuju’ continues production.
